Zgryźliwość kojarzy mi się z radością, która źle skończyła.

fence – płot – a barrier, railing, or other upright structure, typically of wood or wire, enclosing an area of ground to prevent or control access or escape. (He jumped over the fence.)

bum – pośladki – bottom.   He sat on his bum.

howl – wyć – a long, doleful cry uttered by an animal such as a dog or wolf (He let out a howl of anguish)

woodpecker – dzięcioł – a bird with a strong bill and a stiff tail, which climbs tree trunks to find insects and drums on dead wood to mark territory. (What a noisy woodpecker.)

stuck – zablokowany, przyklejony – past simple and past participle of stick, blocked or glued to something (He stuck to her.)

crutches – kule inwalidzkie – a stick with a piece that fits under the arm, that you lean on for support if you have difficulty in walking because of a foot or leg injury (Martin broke his leg and has been on crutches for the past six weeks.)

fortnight – dwa tygodnie – a period of two weeks (It was a fotrnight ago.)

striking – uderzający – very unusual or easily noticed, and therefore attracting a lot of attention (She bears a striking resemblance to her mother.)

keep the upper lip stiff – nie pokazywać emocji po sobie – someone who has a stiff upper lip does not show their feelings when they are upset (He was taught at school to keep a stiff upper lip, whatever happens.)

bricklayer – murarz – a person who builds walls or buildings using bricks, especially as a job (He is very good bricklayer.)

Jammled – zaklinowany – unable to move (This drawer is jammed.)

puylley – koło pasowe – a piece of equipment for moving heavy objects up or down, consisting of a small wheel over which a rope or chain fixed to the object can be easily pulled or released slowly (The blocks of stone had to be lifted into position with a system of pulleys.)

shin – goleń – the front part of your leg between your knee and your foot (She's got a nasty bruise on her shin.)
