An optional seat brake is fre-quently installed on these lift trucks as an additionto the standard hand brake mechanism. Both ar-rangements are described in this section.DESCRIPTIONThe standard hand brake has a handle connectedto the hinge pin for the seat. A linkage arrangementconnects the handle with the actuator link in theparking brake mechanism. The parking brakemechanism is an expanding shoe type of brake. SeeFigure 1 and Figure 2.Lift trucks with the optional seat brake have addi-tional linkage that connect the seat with the park-ing brake. The parking brake is either applied whenan operator is not sitting in the seat or the handle isput in the raised position. The seat assembly has ahinge at the front of the seat. The weight of the operator causes the seat assem-bly to operate the linkage and release the parkingbrake. If the parking brake is applied with thehandle, the seat brake linkage will not release theparking brake. An electric switch is connected to the actuator le-ver below the battery compartment. When the park-ing brake is applied by the handle or the seat, thisswitch stops the voltage to the control card of themotor controller. The lift truck will not operate ifthe parking brake is applied. A lift truck with astandard hand brake arrangement also has a seatswitch. The seat switch senses the weight of theoperator in the seat before the lift truck will oper-ate.FIGURE 1. PARKING BRAKE LINKAGEREPAIRSPARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLYIf the parking brake linkage is correctly adjusted, the wear on the parts of parking brake assembly isslow. Replace the brake shoes when the brake lin-ings are worn to less than 1.0 mm (0.04 in). A hubwith splines connects the brake drum to the trac-tion motor shaft. The 7/8 UNF nut that holds thehub on the traction motor shaft is tightened to 150-160 N.m (110-120 1bf ft). To inspect the parkingbrake assembly for wear, put the lift truck on blocksso that you have access to the parking brake. Re-move the four 3/8 UNC x 1 /2 capscrews. Slidethe brake drum from the parking brake assembly. When the inspection is complete, install the brakedrum and the four capscrews.RemovalA. Put the lift truck on blocks. Remove the brakedrum.B. Remove the nuts that hold the brake shoes to theback plate and remove the brake shoe assembly.InstallationA. Install the two springs that connect the brakeshoe assembly.B. Install the brake shoe assembly on the back plate.Install the nuts.C. Install the brake drum.FIGURE 2. PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLYADJUSTMENTSThis part of the section has the instructions for ad-justing the linkage for the hand brake and the seatbrake. Before you adjust the linkage, check the ad-justment of the seat assembly. See Figure 3. A boltand shim arrangement controls the height of theseat in the DOWN position. Add or remove shimsas required to adjust the seat height.C. Check that the parking brake switch is actuatedwhen the handle is in the UP position. Make surethe switch is adjusted correctly so that the barrelof the switch does not hit the stop.D. Remove the lift truck from the blocks.ADJUSTMENT OF THELINKAGE FOR THE HAND ANDSEAT BRAKE (SEE FIGURE 1)A. Put the lift truck on blocks so that you haveaccess to the parking brake mechanism.NOTEThe capscrew (10) controls the move-ment of the lever (11). A liquid sealantlike Loctite®270 is applied to lock thecapscrew in position so that it does notturn.B. Adjust the capscrew (10) so that the bottom ofthe lever (11) is 57.15 mm (2.250 in) from thefront of the battery compartment when the seat isin the DOWN position.C. Adjust the length of the spring (13) to 109.22mm (4.30 in) when the seat is in the DOWN posi-tion. Lube rod (14) with Spray Lube P.N. 351333.D. Push the lever (5) up atApoint with your hand.Use a force of 22-44 N (5-10 lb) to make sure thelinkage is not loose. Adjust the length of the tierod (12) so that there is a clearance of 3.175 mm(0.125 in) between the pin and the bottom of theslot of the lever (5). Check that the lever (5) has amovement of 13-16 mm (0.50-0.62 in) at pointAand will apply the parking brakeE. Let the seat raise to the UP position. Raise thehandle to the UP position. Adjust the length of therod (4) so that it contacts the bottom of its slot inlever (5).F. Check that the parking brake switch is actuatedwhen the parking brake is applied. Make sure theswitch is adjusted correctly so that the barrel ofthe switch does not hit the stop.G. Remove the lift truck from the blocks. A cor-rectly adjusted parking brake will hold a lift truckwith a rated load on a 15% ramp.FIGURE 3. SEAT PLATE ADJUSTMENTADJUSTMENT OF THE HANDBRAKE LINKAGE (SEE FIGURE 1)A. Put the lift truck on blocks so that you haveaccess to the parking brake mechanism.B. Push the lever (5) up at pointAwith your hand.Use a force of 22-44 N (5-10 lb) to make sure thelinkage is not loose. Adjust the end of the rod (4)so that pointAwill move down 13-16 mm (0.50-0.62 in) when the handle is raised to the UP posi-tion.zanotowane.pl doc.pisz.pl pdf.pisz.pl hannaeva.xlx.pl
